The ACT Math section has 60 questions in 60 minutes. Most students struggle not because of the math but because of the pace and not knowing which topics to prioritize.

What the ACT Math Tests

Pre-Algebra and Algebra make up about 65% of the test. Plane Geometry is about 23% and Trig only 7%. Focus on algebra first.

Week 1: Take a Diagnostic Test

Before studying anything, take a full timed practice test. Find your 3 weakest topics. Those become your focus for weeks 2 and 3.

Weeks 2 and 3: Fix Your Weak Spots

45 to 60 minutes per day. Work through practice problems on your weak topics and review every mistake carefully. High-yield areas: linear equations, quadratics, ratios, coordinate geometry, and basic geometry.

Week 4: Practice Test Strategy

Do not spend more than 90 seconds per problem. Plug in numbers when answer choices have variables. Eliminate wrong answers. Always guess since there is no penalty on the ACT.
