How to Solve Logarithmic Equations Without Extra Answers

Rewrite the equation in exponential form, solve it, and always check the domain.

Logarithms and exponents are inverses:

You can only take the logarithm of a positive number. That's why logarithmic equations can produce answers that don't work.

Example:

Rewrite:

Check: is positive, so it works.

Example:

Combine:

Rewrite:

, so or

makes undefined, so the only solution is .
