Use / for fractions, like 3/4 + 1/8.
Use * to multiply and parentheses to group, like (1/2 + 1/3) * 3/5.
Use parentheses when dividing by a fraction, like (7/8) / (1/4). The result appears in simplest form, as a mixed number and as a decimal.
